RETURN TO NORMAL TIMELINE HIGHLIGHTS 2022 GOJHL AGM

JUNE 14, 2022 – The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) over the weekend with a return to usual schedule timelines for the 2022-23 GOJHL season at the forefront.

After playing 48 games in 2021-22, the league will return to its normal 50-game season.  The province-wide shut down in January 2022 caused the cancellation of the GOJHL Showcase, but will return once again to the Meridian Community Centre in Pelham on the 3rd week of the season.  The event will see each club play two regular season games in front of CHL, NCAA and U SPORTS scouts in attendance.

The Ayr Centennials will host their first GOJHL event as they welcome the Top Prospects (17 & 18 year-olds) & Future Stars (16 year-olds) to the North Dumfries Community Complex on Tuesday, December 27th, 2022.

“The 2021-22 season was a grind but we were very pleased our players, teams and communities were finally able to play a full season and award the Sutherland Cup.  We are very excited to get back to our normal dates, and like all of us, hope we’ve put the pandemic permanently in the rear-view mirror.” said GOJHL Commissioner Brent Garbutt.

The GOJHL also announced Matt Miller (Listowel) and Nik Passero (Fort Erie) were re-elected to serve as Board of Directors on two-year terms.  Furthermore, league members laid the foundation on various topics and items the league is working to finalize and announce over the summer.

“We’re very excited for 2022-23 and with lots of programs and league initiatives in the works, it will be a busy summer before we get back on the ice,” stated Garbutt.
