Lasalle Tops Leamington 3-2 In Remembrance Day Game

By: Nick Welsh

It was our annual Remembrance Day game on November 6th, with host Veteran and Town Councillor Mike Akpata. He reminded us all to take a moment of silence for our fallen soldiers. Some no older than the players playing in tonight’s game fought for our country so that we could enjoy freedom. May all soldiers rest in peace, we the Vipers salute you.

Game Flow:

Leamington struck first just four minutes and fifty seconds into the game, but it took only one minute and to respond. Hamlin scored on a feed from Ferguson to tie the game at 1 with fourteen minutes left in the first. A little back and forth action occurred during those fourteen minutes but no more goals, shots were 10-5 in favour of Leamington after one period of play. In the second period, after teams trading hits, there was a 10-minute stoppage for glass repair. When the game resumed, Hamlin sniped one top shelf on the short side to make it 2-1 Vipers. That was all for the period. Early into the third Leamington tied the game at 2 with seventeen minutes left in the third. After a couple of penalties on either side, the Vipers broke the deadlock. Paradis got his first of the campaign after deflecting Bowlers wrister. The score was now 3-2 in favour of the Vipers. The Vipers then got into a little bit of penalty trouble, but the PK did an excellent job shutting the door. Leamington pulled their goalie in an effort to tie the game but failed to score. Final score Vipers 3 Leamington 2. Molu stopped 25 of 27 shots against, while the Vipers had 17 shots on goal.
