Five Additional GOJHL Alumni Taken in the 2023 NHL Draft

And then there were seven. Five additional GOJHL graduates made their way to the podium in Nashville, Tennessee at the National Hockey League draft. The following players were chosen in addition to first-round picks Oliver Bonk and Easton Cowan.

Aydar Suniev (LW), Thorold Blackhawks – He may have only played three games in 2021-22 but he certainly left his mark on the GOJHL scoring 5 goals and adding 3 assists.

Florian Xhejak (LW), Pelham Panthers – In his one season in Pelham he scored 17 goals and had 40 points in 48 regular season games and added a pair of points in three playoff games.

Jacob Julien (C), London Nationals – It is hard to believe that Julien started the 2022-23 season with the Nationals, racking up 41 points in just 22 games before moving on to the London Knights. The previous season he 43 points in 36 games.

Ryan MacPherson (C), Leamington Flyers – MacPherson completed his second season with the team as a Sutherland Cup champion and playoff Most Valuable Player. He racked up 113 regular season points and 53 playoff points.

Warren Clark (D), Chatham Maroons – Clark had a solid 2021-22 season, picking up 20 regular season points and then 10 points in 20 playoff games.
