Kilty B’s rally comes up short against Falcons

The Hamilton Kilty B’s twice battled back to tie the score, but a late goal from St. Catharines Falcons’ Curtis Egert provided the difference as the Falcons escaped the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena with a 4-3 win on Monday.

Egert’s conversion of an Adam Cherepacha feed with 6:50 remaining stood up despite some late pressure from the Kilty B’s.

Hamilton captain Jacob Macdonald scored twice, including the goal that tied the game 3-3 with 13:28 remaining. Peter Izzo also scored for the Kilty B’s (14-8-2), tying the game 2-2 late in the second period.

Egert scored twice for the Falcons (16-6-2), while Cherepacha and Jonah Boria had the others.

The Falcons outshot the Kilty B’s 33-32, with the Falcons’ Blair Coffin making 29 saves for the win, while Hamilton’s Matteo Drobac made 29 stops in the loss.

Macdonald now has six goals and nine points in his past three games and is seventh in the GOJHL goal-scoring race with 16 goals in 24 games.
