TWO GOJHL PLAYERS SELECTED TO 2021 CAPITAL CITY CHALLENGE

66-Player Roster Sees More GOJHL Players Selected Than CJHL Combined

NOVEMBER 8th, 2021 – St. Thomas Stars’ defenceman Oliver Bonk and Komoka Kings’ forward Easton Cowan have been selected to Hockey Canada’s Under-17 Roster and will be representing their respective clubs and the GOJHL at the 2021 Capital City Challenge.

The four-team tournament from November 26th to December 1st in Ottawa will feature the 66 players selected divided into three teams – Team Canada Black, Team Canada Red and Team Canada White – and will see them compete against Canada’s National Women’s Team as part of its centralization schedule.

Bonk, a 2nd round, 26th overall pick of the OHL’s London Knights in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection has enjoyed a strong start at just under a point-per-game pace through 11 games and is currently 3rd in scoring among rookie defencemen in the GOJHL.

Cowan, selected one spot prior to Bonk, also by the Knights, is seeing similar success to the start of his GOJHL career, as he is tied as the Kings’ leading scorer with five goals and 11 assists in twelve games.

Also selected as a member of the staff is former London Nationals and current Sarnia Sting Equipment Manager Spencer Stehouwer, who will be representing Team Canada Red.

Congratulations and best of luck to Oliver, Easton and Spencer!
