Rockets Announce Coaching Addition

Late Season Addition!

The Strathroy Rockets are very pleased to announce that Matt Hackett will be joining our coaching staff for the remainder of the GOJHL season. Matt currently lives in London and played in our league back in 2006-07 before going on to play in the Ontario Hockey League with the Windsor Spitfires and the Plymouth Whalers. In the 2009 NHL Draft, he was selected 77th overall by the Minnesota Wild. Over a span of the next 7 seasons Matt would go on to play in over 200 AHL games with the affiliates of Minnesota, Buffalo and Anaheim and also appeared in 26 NHL games. He then went on to play in Slovakia, England and Norway before returning home to focus on being a goalie coach here in the area.

“Matt will provide a lot of valuable experience to our players as we continue our focus on player development within our organization. He will not only help our goaltenders but will also be another set of eyes as we move down the stretch and into the playoffs” stated Director of Hockey Operations / General Manager Kent Coleman.

Matt added, “I’m really excited about joining the Rockets organization and starting this next chapter in my hockey career.”

Welcome to the Rockets Matt!.
