MID-WESTERN CONFERENCE OCTOBER PLAYERS-OF-THE-MONTH

NOVEMBER 2021 – The GOJHL announced the first recipients for the players-of-the-month of the 2021-22 season for September and October in the Mid-West Conference.

After the COVID-19 pandemic delayed his rookie campaign to 2021-22, Jaxson Murray jumped right out of the gates to take home Offensive Player-of-the-Month honours.  The Elmira Sugar Kings forward notched 20 points in his first 11 GOJHL games, including nine goals and 11 assists.  The Waterloo, ON native was a 14th round selection by the Sarnia Sting in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection.

Taking home Defensive Player-of-the-Month honours is 20-year-old defenceman Adam Soos of the KW Siskins.  Soos registered five assists in 12 games for Kitchener-Waterloo, and was a stalwart on the back-end by pacing the Siskins in the Mid-Western Conference by allowing 25.5 shots allowed per game.  The Barrie, ON native is in his 3rd GOJHL season.

Stratford Warriors’ Marcus Vandenberg’s terrific start to his GOJHL career led him to earn the Goaltender-of-the-Month. The Dorchester, ON native posted a dazzling 5-0-0 record in six games played while earning one shutout along with a 1.36 GAA and .953 SV%.  Vandenberg was a 9th round selection by the Kitchener Rangers in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection.
