Maroons Storm Back In Game 2 to Tie Series

On Thursday night in Chatham, the Chatham Maroons scored three unanswered goals in the third period to erase a 3-0 deficit and then scored early in overtime to take Game 2 and tie the Western Conference Quarterfinal series with the LaSalle Vipers.

The Vipers scored three times in a dominant first period on goals by Matt Carvalho, Brad Vincent and Spencer Paradis to chase Maroons starter Bryce Walcarius. In the second period, the Vipers had a couple glorious chances to all but put the game away, but failed to do so against Kevin Linker who relieved Walcarius after the first.

LaSalle was able to fend the Maroons off late in the second, but with some penalty trouble early in the third, the Maroons began to swarm. The constant pressure resulted in three goals in a four-minute span, igniting both the Maroons players and their fans and sending the game to overtime. 53 seconds into the extra frame, Maroons captain Dallas Maurovic completed the comeback and gave the home team the win.

With both teams having protected their home ice, the series shifts back to LaSalle for Game 3 on Sunday night at the Vollmer Complex.
