MAILLOUX TOP ONTARIO JUNIOR RANKED PLAYER BY NHL CENTRAL SCOUTING

Mailloux, Rickwood & Romeo named to NHL Central Scouting Final Rankings

A trio of GOJHL players are among the top names in the NHL Central Scouting Final Rankings released this week. Logan Mailloux, a standout 16-year-old defenceman for the London Nationals in 2019-20, ranked 23rd among North American skaters, the 2nd highest ranked non-Major Junior player in Canada. Former Hamilton Kilty B, Ellis Rickwood was ranked 144th. Chandler Romeo, who spent a portion of the 2019-20 season with the Brantford Bandits was ranked 169th.

Even though the 2020-21 GOJHL season wasn’t played, that didn’t stop Mailloux, a potential 1st round selection in the July draft, from hitting the ice as he joined SK Lejon in Sweden for a 19-game stint where he picked up 15 points (7G, 8A) during his time overseas. This comes off of the right shot defenceman’s supremely impressive debut season at the junior level when he had 68 points (18G, 50A) for the Nationals in 19-20.

Spending the 2019-20 season with the Hamilton Kilty B’s, the 6’1”, 185 pound centreman Rickwood tallied 62 points in 50 games before playing the 2020-21 season with the Victoria Grizzlies of the BCHL.

Romeo, an impressive defenceman standing 6’5”, played in 44 games for the Bandits in 2019-20 with 21 points (9G, 12A). He was also named to the GOJHL Mid-West All-Rookie Team.

Both Mailloux and Romeo are property of OHL teams as the former has suited up for a handful of games for the London Knights, while the latter has signed with the Hamilton Bulldogs.

The 2021 draft is scheduled for July 23-24 and both players are hoping to see their names called. For the second year in a row the draft will be completed virtually.

The entire GOJHL wishes both players the best of luck in their pursuit of the next step in their hockey careers!
