Kilty B’s set for second-round showdown with Caledonia

The Hamilton Kilty B’s took care of business in the opening round, but the biggest challenge now lies ahead in round two.

Coming off a four-game sweep of the fifth-place Thorold Blackhawks, the Kilty B’s (31-16-3) must now face the first-place Caledonia Corvairs (45-4-1) in a best-of-seven second round.

The series opens on Tuesday in Caledonia at 7:30 p.m.

Game 2 will be at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena on Thursday at 7 p.m.

After Saturday night’s Game 3 in Caledonia, the Kilty B’s will host Game 4 on Monday, March 16 at 7 p.m. at The Hive.

The Kilty B’s enter the series having won the last meeting against the Corvairs, a 5-3 win at home on Feb. 3, one of only four regulation losses Caledonia suffered this season.

The Corvairs wrapped up a four-game sweep of the Buffalo Regals in the opening round.

The Kilty B’s outscored Thorold 17-5 in their four-game sweep, including a 4-0 shutout in the Game 4 clincher, as goaltender Justin Easter stopped all 49 shots. Fred Teeple scored twice, while Eli Rivers and Steven Laforme had one each.

In Game 3, the Kilty B’s earned a 4-1 win, with two goals from Nolan Slachetka and one each from Jordan Van Hunnik and Laforme.

Slachetka, Rivers and Nick Giamou scored goals in the 3-2 win in Game 2.

In the series-opener, Laforme scored twice, with Giamou, Teeple, Ellis Rickwood and Justin Monteith adding one each in a 6-2 win.
