GREATER ONTARIO JUNIOR HOCKEY LEAGUE ANNOUNCES THREE LEAGUE AWARDS

March 27, 2023 – The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce three regular season awards today:

First Place Regular Season Champions – St. Catharines Falcons.
The Falcons led the league and the Golden Horseshoe Conference with 82 points with a record of 38 wins, 6 losses, and 6 overtime losses. They narrowly edged out the Hamilton Kilty B’s, also from the Golden Horseshoe, by a single point. This marks the second time St. Catharines has won this award, the previous being in 2012-13.

Top Scorer – Zac McCann, Stratford Warriors
McCann, a Stratford native, led the league in scoring with 83 points on 27 goals and 56 assists. He had 8 powerplay markers and 3 shorthanded goals in his third full season with the club. McCann had a league-high 18-game point-scoring streak (14 goals, 31 assists, and 45 points) and is the first Stratford Culliton/Warrior player to lead the league in scoring since the award was created in 2008.

Gus Crescenzi Award for the League’s Top Goaltender – Nolan Chartrand, Kitchener-Waterloo Siskins
Chartrand led the league in shutouts with 8 and earned 24 wins in the 31 games he appeared in. He posted a goals-against average of 1.94 and a save percentage of .928 and was a key part of the team’s Midwestern Conference regular season title. Chartrand is the second Siskin to win the award, the first being Colin Breen in 2010.

Congratulations to the award winners.
