GREATER ONTARIO JUNIOR HOCKEY LEAGUE ANNOUNCES MIDWESTERN CONFERNCE AWARD WINNERS

March 29, 2023 – The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce the Midwestern Conference award winners along with the All-Star and Rookie Teams:

Wideman had a breakout season with Kitchener-Waterloo in his second season with the team. The 21-year-old has recently committed to Adrian College, an NCAA Division 1 School after leading the team in scoring. He tallied 39 goals and added 32 assists to help the Siskins to the Midwestern Conference regular season title. 9 of his goals were game-winners and he added 7 powerplay markers.


Oliver’s first full season in the GOJHL will be a memorable one for the 21-year-old from Elmira. The powerplay specialist scored 10 of his 14 goals with the man advantage this season. He added 37 assists for a 51-point season to help the Warriors to a second-place finish in the conference. He was also selected to participate in the GOJHL 2002’s All-Stars versus Brock Badgers exhibition game.

Scott, a 17-year-old from Kitchener, had an excellent rookie season in Ayr. The defenceman scored 13 times, 7 on the powerplay, and had 38 points on the season which ranks him tenth in the GOJHL. He was selected to participate in the St. Andrew’s College MacPherson Challenge Tournament and the GOJHL Top Prospects Game. Scott has also signed with the OHL’s Kitchener Rangers.


Grein completed an excellent two-way season by winning two Midwestern Conference awards. The 21-year-old forward scored 21 goals and added 21 assists, putting him second in team scoring. He was selected in the second round by the Oshawa Generals in the 2019 OHL Under 18 Draft


Bibby and his 77 points were a big part of the RedHawks’ third-place finish in the conference. He scored 14 of his 36 goals on the powerplay and added 41 assists for a 77-point season, good enough to put him second in GOJHL scoring. He was also selected to participate in the GOJHL 2002’s All-Stars versus Brock Badgers exhibition game.

Williams has an extensive and successful coaching career and was named the OHA Coach of the Year in 2020 while with the Warriors. He and his team led Stratford to 38 wins and a second-place finish in the Midwestern Conference, finishing just one point behind Kitchener-Waterloo. Williams was also a part of the GOJHL coaching staff that won the prestigious St. Andrews College MacPherson Challenge Tournament.

All-Star Team

The Siskins took the Midwestern Conference regular season title with 38 wins, finishing one point ahead of Stratford. They also had the conference’s best goal differential with a plus 139.

McCann, a Stratford native, led the league in scoring with 83 points on 27 goals and 56 assists. He had 8 powerplay markers and 3 shorthanded goals in his third full season with the club. McCann had a league-high 18-game point-scoring streak (14 goals, 31 assists, and 45 points) and is the first Stratford Culliton/Warrior player to lead the league in scoring since the award was created in 2008.

Goaltending played a big part in the Siskins’ winning the conference championship. Chartrand carried most of the load for the Siskins this season, making 31 appearances and posting 24 victories. He posted a 1.94 goals against average and a stingy .928 save percentage while posting a league-leading 8 shutouts. Galda appeared in 12 games posting a 2.75 goals against with a save percentage of .898.
