Meteors, Falcons extend winning streaks

GOJHL scoring leader Sam Tonelli scored his team-leading 12th goal of the season and added two assists, and John Lloyd made 26 saves for his sixth career shutout (second of the season) as the Meteors (15-5-1-0) extended their win streak to six games and their point streak to nine (9-0-1-0).   The Panthers (6-13-4-0) remain tied with Brantford for 8th place in the Eastern Conference.


St. Catharines Falcons 4
Welland Canadians 2

Calvin Petrovsky scored two goals to lead the Falcons (17-5-0-0) to their seventh straight win to remain two points behind the first-place Ayr Centennials in the Eastern Conference standings.  Joey Marrese scored his 13th goal of the season for the Canadians (7-15-1-0).


Strathroy Rockets 4
KW Siskins 5

Jake Mallory scored his first career GOJHL goal and added an assist as the Siskins (9-8-3-2) held on for the win and now trail Strathroy by three points for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.  Caleb Rosseel scored a shorthanded goal with 2:33 left in the third to bring Strathroy within one, but the Rockets (12-7-1-1) could not tie the game and had their five-game road point streak snapped.


Listowel Cyclones 5
Chatham Maroons 1

Wylie Birkett scored his team-leading 10th goal of the season and Teague Vader had a career-high three points (goal, 2 assists) as the Cyclones (13-6-1-0) moved into a tie with London for fifth place in the Western Conference.  Since an 11-2 home-ice win over Hamilton on November 3rd, the Maroons (13-7-2-0) have scored just four goals in their last three games at Memorial Arena.


St. Marys Lincolns 2
Elmira Sugar Kings 4

Joey Martin scored two goals as the Sugar Kings (12-9-3-0) won their fourth straight home game.  Suffering their second straight road loss, the Lincolns (16-5-0-0) missed a chance to regain sole possession of first place in the Western Conference.


Cambridge Redhawks 3
Caledonia Corvairs 6

Brody Leet scored two goals as the Corvairs (12-8-2-1) avenged Saturday’s 6-5 shootout loss to Cambridge and moved one point ahead of the Redhawks into fifth place in the Eastern Conference.  Josh Kaufman scored two goals for the Redhawks (12-9-1-1) who suffered their second straight road loss.


Ayr Centennials 3
Hamilton Kilty B’s 1

Kayden Newton made 28 saves for his 13th win in 13 starts as the Centennials (18-4-0-0) returned to the win column after having their 13-game winning streak ended on Friday.  The Kilty B’s (10-11-2-0) had their home losing streak extended to seven games, during which they have scored just nine goals.
