Cacciola’s OT goal gives Canadians first win in Caledonia in three years

Joshua Cacciola scored the winner with 2:17 left in overtime as the Canadians (8-15-1-0) earned their first win in Caledonia since Nov.6, 2021 (had lost last 10 meetings).  Thomas Dimoulas scored his first career GOJHL goal and Ivan Kastelan (W, 7-7-0) made 54 saves for Welland, who now trail 8th place Brantford by one point.  Ethan Quick scored his team-leading 15th goal for the Corvairs (13-8-3-1) who now have points in five straight (3-0-1-1).

Ryan Woodburn scored the game-winner – his second in as many games – late in the second period as the Kilty B’s (12-11-2-0) earned their third straight road win.  Quinton Kim-Lemay scored two goals for the Titans (8-15-2-0) who suffered the loss despite outshooting Hamilton 34-15.

Owen Ireton extended his points streak to 10 games – the longest current streak in the league – with his team-leading 15th goal and league-leading 8th game-winning goal as the Centennials (19-5-0-0) moved into a tie with St. Catharines for first place in the Eastern Conference.  The Redhawks (12-11-1-1) suffered their third straight loss.

Finn Moffett (W, 8-3-0) made 16 saves for his third shutout of the season (T-most in the GOJHL), Sam Tonelli scored two goals, and Kyle Adamo scored his franchise-record 64th career goal for Fort Erie as the Meteors (16-6-1-0) won their fifth straight home game.  The Bombers (1-24-0-0) have lost 23 straight.

Brady Schwindt scored three goals for his first career GOJHL hat-trick and added two assists for a career-high five-point game, Joey Martin also had a career-high five points with a goal and four assists, and Luke Della Croce scored his league-leading 19th goal as the Sugar Kings (13-9-3-0) scored a season-high 11 goals for their third straight win.  The Legionnaires (7-13-2-1) are winless in five (0-4-0-1).

With the game tied 2-2 early in the third, the Maroons (14-7-2-0) scored three goals in a span of 3:40 and went on to claim their third straight road win.  The Kings (4-18-1-0) suffered their third straight loss.


Listowel Cyclones 4
Strathroy Rockets 3

The Cyclones (14-7-1-0) built a 3-1 first period lead and held on for the win to remain tied with Elmira for sixth in the Western Conference, moving three points ahead of the Rockets (12-8-1-1) who suffered their third straight loss.
