Vipers, Warriors win to claim share of first place in Western Conference

Tied 1-1 after two periods, the Vipers (16-6-0-0) won the game with three unanswered goals in the third period and moved into a tie with St. Marys and Stratford for first place in the Western Conference.  The Kings (4-17-1-0) suffered the loss despite a 42-31 advantage in shots on goal.

Carter McDougall (9-5-0) stopped 20 of 21 shots faced for his and his team’s third straight win as the Warriors (16-6-0-0) created a three-way tie for first place in the Western Conference.  The Rockets (12-6-1-1) have scored just six goals in their last four games (2-2-0-0).

Fort Erie Meteors 6

The Meteors (14-5-1-0) scored four goals in a seven-minute span in the first period and cruised to the win, extending their point streak to nine games (8-0-1-0).  Joey Marrese scored the only goal for the Canadians (7-14-1-0) who had won two straight entering the game.


Caledonia Corvairs 5
Cambridge Redhawks 6 (SO)

Kyler Morgan scored two goals 32 seconds apart midway thru the third period to tie the game and Reid Gammage scored the only successful shootout attempt as the Redhawks (12-8-1-1) – who entered the game tied with Caledonia in the standings – claimed sole possession of 5th place in the Eastern Conference.  Jordyn Ertel scored twice for the Corvairs (11-8-2-1) who had rallied from a 3-0 deficit to take a 5-3 lead, and are now winless in their last five road games.

Caledon Bombers 0

Sean Short scored his second and third career GOJHL goals and Logan Snyder made 30 saves for his third shutout of the season (tied for most in the GOJHL) as the Panthers (6-12-4-0) snapped their eight-game road winless streak.  The Bombers (1-21-0-0) were 0 for 6 on the power play and have now lost 21 straight.
