GOJHL Announces the Collins Clothiers Players of the Month for January 2023

The January Player of the Month is Blake Yetman from the St. Catherines Falcons. The 20-year-old Whitby native and Sutherland Cup Champion is the hottest player in the GOJHL, riding a 14-game multi-point streak with 15 goals and 24 assists and he sits third in league scoring with 67 points in 34 games. He averaged just under 3 points per game in January and scored a ‘Michigan’ goal against Welland on January 22. Yetman was selected in the third round, 47th overall, by the Erie Otters in the 2020 U18 draft.

William Nichol from the St. Thomas Stars has been selected as the Rookie of the Month for January. The 16-year-old Ottawa native had a goal and 14 assists in 7 games in the month which included a 5-point game against Komoka on January 13. The rookie leads the Stars in scoring with 53 points in 35 games, good enough for tenth in league scoring. Nichol was chosen in the third round, 52nd overall, by the London Knights in the 2022 OHL Priority Draft and was a member of the GOJHL gold-winning Under 18 team at the recent MacPherson Challenge tournament in Aurora.

Leamington Flyers backstopper Boe Piroski is the Goaltender of the Month for January. The 18-year-old from Essex is in his second full season with the Flyers and went undefeated in four games in the month with a 1.25 goals against average with a stingy .954 save percentage. Piroski was a first-round selection, 20th overall, by the Niagara Ice Dogs in the OHL U18 draft in 2021. He has 11 wins in 16 games this season with a 2.23 goals against average and a .914 save percentage.
