Flyers name James Assistant Coach

LEAMINGTON, ON– The Flyers are pleased to announce the addition of Mike James, who will serve as an Assistant Coach for the Flyers during the 2019-2020 season. James will be working with the defense and running the penalty kill units.

The 37 year-old Windsor native grew up playing local hockey. He was a product of the Windsor AAA program, before suiting up for the Wheatley Sharks (PJHL) and the Tecumseh Bulldogs (GOJHL).

James comes to Leamington with an extensive hockey resume. James played four seasons in the OHL for the Ottawa 67’s, Mississauga Ice Dogs and the Windsor Spitfires.

Following his OHL career, Mike would play pro hockey for 6 seasons. He suited up for the Jamestown Chiefs and Toledo Storm of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). He concluded his career with the Port Huron Flags of the United Hockey League (UHL).

Head Coach Cam Crowder said he is excited and pleased to add James behind the bench.

“ I think all of us are excited to have Mike on board with us,” says Crowder. “He brings a lot of enthusiasm and experience to the team and coaching staff. I think he will be able to really help us develop our team and reach the goals we have set.”

The Flyers will be back on the ice in August as they begin the main training camp.
