Netminder Justin Easter made 47 saves and held his ground in a goaltending duel with Chase Grsic as the Hamilton Kilty B’s skated to a 2-2 tie with the Thorold Blackhawks on Monday night.
Easter remains unbeaten in the Kilty B’s net this season with six wins and a tie in his seven starts. The six-foot-three Burlington native is second in the GOJHL with a .945 save percentage, fifth in the league with a 1.78 goals-against average and is tied for the lead with two shutouts.
Christian Pelley and Scott Malloy staked the Kilty B’s (8-1-2) to a 2-0 lead after the first period, but the Blackhawks (4-5-2) battled back over the final 40 minutes, outshooting Hamilton 49-38 in the contest. Mitch Britton and Dylan Scriver scored for Thorold.
The Kilty B’s were coming off a 7-0 shutout of the Pelham Panthers on the road Sunday.
Easter made 17 saves in shutting the door, while Nolan Underwood scored twice. Ellis Rickwood, Justin Monteith, Jacob MacDonald, Terry Bridgland and Jacob McEachern also scored. Christian Pelley had three assists.
The Kilty B’s hit the road this week to face the Buffalo Regals. There is no Monday night home game on Thanksgiving, but the Kilty B’s host a Thursday home game against the Welland Jr. Canadians on Oct. 17.
