Brantford Titans Announce Daniel Fitzgerald as First General Manager and Head Coach

Brantford, ON – May 30th, 2024 – The Brantford Titans are thrilled to announce the appointment of Daniel Fitzgerald as the new General Manager and Head Coach for the upcoming 2024-25 season. This significant move comes as the team embarks on its first season after an exciting rebrand, setting the stage for a new era of hockey in Brantford.

Fitzgerald joins the Titans with a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success in hockey management and coaching. Most recently, he served as an Assistant Coach with the Ontario Hockey League’s Guelph Storm during the 2023-24 season. Before that, Fitzgerald was the Head Coach of the Niagara IceDogs for the 2022-23 season, where he demonstrated his strategic acumen and leadership skills.

Fitzgerald is no stranger to the Brantford community, having previously held the position of Head Coach for the OJHL’s Brantford 99ers from 2018 to 2022. His tenure with the 99ers was marked by significant achievements, solidifying his reputation as a key figure in Brantford’s hockey landscape.

In addition to his experience in the OJHL, Fitzgerald has an extensive background in the GOJHL. He served as the Head Coach for the St. Catharines Falcons (2017-18) and the Cambridge Winterhawks (2015-17). His exceptional leadership with the Winterhawks earned him the GOJHL’s Mid-Western Conference Coach of the Year award for the 2016-17 season.

Fitzgerald’s impressive career also includes a notable period as the General Manager and Head Coach of the Dundas Blues. His outstanding contributions during the 2014-15 season led to him being named the Ontario Hockey Association’s Coach of the Year, and he was recently inducted into the Dundas Blues’ Hall of Fame.

Fitzgerald’s playing career is also notable, having spent five years in junior hockey before playing for the Niagara University Purple Eagles (ACHA) and wrapping up his playing days with the Welland Whalers in the OHA’s Allan Cup Hockey league.

In the end, the decision to join the Titans organization was easy. To be provided with the opportunity to work with passionate and driven people like Mike and Jon, while we build a winning program that will develop young athletes on and off the ice for years to come made it clear that this was the right spot at the right time for me,” said Fitzgerald. Everything a coach, manager, or player needs to be successful is right here in Brantford with the Titans.”

Mike Christian, President of Titan Hockey Canada, commented, “With the addition of Daniel Fitzgerald Titan Hockey Canada is extremely excited for the future of our organizations. Daniel will be a key part of developing young talent throughout the county of Brant and the city of Brantford as we grow our programs.”

The Brantford Titans are confident that Fitzgerald’s expertise and vision will guide the team to new heights. As the Titans prepare for their inaugural season under the new brand, the organization and its fans eagerly anticipate the impact of Fitzgerald’s leadership.
